Capas

Capas arises from the desire to create a rug that focuses on layers of colours, tonality and shadow to create intense depth while also being easy enough to blend into any environment and space.

The starting point for the Capas collection is the notion of shadows being never black or grey but full of colour and geometry. The designer’s aim was to create a simple and light rug that has a casual feel to it while being complex in the use of colours and formation of depth. In order to achieve this, he intensely studied the specifics of Kilim weaving techniques searching for new ways of distributing colour in the 3d. Nanimarquina and Hahn thus developed a new type of loose Kilim structure which allows mixing the colours of the warp and weft. The unique texture creates a dark-and-light effect and great profundity without becoming heavy. Like the layers of air in the atmosphere that reflect light and cast shadow.

Color is a pivotal element of the Capas collection. Each rug has a main color, a complementing tone and its darker gradient which in the composition gives the illusion of a cast shadow on the floor. Each rug is a color chord of a certain main colour.
