Louche

Opaline glass has widely been ignored in the recent past, or at least lived in the shadow of its see through relatives. However considering it not only for its transparency, but also its translucent and opaque qualities, glass as a whole becomes a much more versatile material to use, combining the different types. The ‘louche-effect’ describes a very similar visual condition, when spirits such as absinthe or pastis turn from clear to cloudy when adding water.
